Students learn to differentiate between Reel and Real
Tiruchy, Jul. 29. The Alaihal Media team, Trichy, animated the children in their schools on Media Literacy
View actual size
Thanks to the invitation of the Salesian sisters of Chennai province. The Alaihal Media team, Trichy, animated the children in their schools on Media Literacy. The team embarked on this noble mission and helped around 1000 children to differentiate between reel and real. The team visited schools of the Salesian Sisters in Regunathapuram, Tanjore, Madurai and Tuticorin from 19 July 22 July 2010. The day-long programme in each school aimed at helping the students to differentiate between reel and real. The feedback from the students and teachers suggests that the team succeeded in achieving its purpose. The team explained with examples and how the reel wields unbelievable influence in our lives. ``It was an eye-opener for me. So far I was blindly believing all that appeared in the media,`` said Mohanapriya, XI Std student at Madurai. ``This seminar was really useful for me. I wish all the teachers get a chance to attend this seminar,`` said Ms. Sheela, teacher in Auxilium Hr. Sec. School, Tanjore.
Overwhelming response from the students who attended the seminar gave us an impetus to continue our mission. The team is starting ``Alaihal Media Clubs`` in the educational institutions as a follow up programme to create awareness among the students.
