Don Bosco Centre for Learning, located on a sprawling Campus at Kurla has achieved yet another distinction. On August 24, 2010, Don Bosco Institute of Management & Research (a separate Management Institution of Don Bosco Institute of Technology ) was launched. It will be offering a full time 2-year M.M.S. Course which is A.I.C.T.E. approved and affiliated to the University of Mumbai. DBIMR is equipped with an excellent infrastructure. The current batch of students has a male: female ratio of 51:49. A six day training program on Participatory Training Methodologies was held from 5th to 10th July 2010 at BIRD (Bosco Integrated Rural Development), Guntur. A total of 50 participants from three different districts participated in the training programme. The name of the project is Empowerment of rural women through formation of CBOs and integrated farming. This project is supported by German government through JDW, Bonn, Germany. The presentation of the DBAI project to be supported by DMOS-COMIDE, Belgium was presented to the staff of development offices began with the staff of Bosco Seva Kendra (BSK) Development Office of the Salesian province of Hyderabad at Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad on 20th July 2010. They were 13 staff of BSK present for the presentation and planning. Mr. Anand who came from DBAI office, Mumbai was the resource person. Fr. PARK CIRCUS - Anita Misra at 19 is already a home-maker since her father`s death. She left B.A. honours (Bengali) studies at Vivekananda College Thakurpukur to look after her asthma ridden mother and siblings. Each week Monday to Saturday she leaves her village home at 6.30 am in Maheshthala Block of South 24 Parganas district walking on dirt road for some 30 minutes to catch an auto rickshaw that takes her to Joka. From Joka she boards a bus to Majerhaat Rail station to board a train to Park Circus. On a fortunate day, Anita takes only two and half hours to reach Don Bosco Technical Institute at Park Circus to start lessons at 9.30 am.. Read More »
