``The Hindu`` lauds the short films of LDC studentsFrancis Gamaliyel
Tiruchy, Aug. 18. 2012 MSW students of Lady Doak College, who arrived at alaihal MEDIA, Trichy, to participate in the Short Film Making workshop (13 - 16 August 2012) showcased the skills that they learnt in the workshop, by making three short films. The screening was held on 16 August 2012 at 2.30 p.m.
Students who entered the alaihal MEDIA campus with mixed feelings went back with three films in their kit and pleasant memories in their hearts. Everyone lauded the alaihal MEDIA for its thorough professionalism and lovely environment. Almost all wanted to stay back to learn the nuances of film making in detail.
The workshop was based on the philosophy of learning-while-doing. After four hectic days of learning and doing, the students assembled at the Don Bosco Mini Theatre to evaluate their performance. Their three films were screened and were commented upon. Many multitasked as actors, camerawoman, script writer, etc. Ms. Cynthia Dettman, Professor at Mounthood Community Collge, USA, was the chief guest. She appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged them to use this medium to communicate their opinions and not stop with this first effort.
The first film was titled Enakkul Tholainden - I am lost within myself. It probed the inferiority complex the young girls have. The second film Irul - Darkness - dealt with the fear of darkness that exists in people. The third film Thavirppu - Avoiding - portrayed the behavioural changes of a girl, who thinks she is obese.
The national Daily ``The Hindu`` which was present for the screening lauded the short films done by the Lady Doak College students.
